According to a study done by the University of Essex on the top 100 quoted companies
- Less than 2% of the executive directors are female and that they receive lower salaries and lower benefits than their equivalent male counterparts.
- Also that just under 9% of females are non executive directors who receive less than two thirds of the remuneration of their males equivalents.
What does that mean?
It means that despite the fact that there has been an increase in the number of female managers at the top levels of business, the glass ceiling effect is very real and is affecting women in the workplace everywhere.
